so, those two ideas aside, you will need no stagnant water. to do that people usually circulate the water; either Drain it like a regular flower pot Or plug bottom holes and Pump it out. The only way u can have stagnant water is if you aeriate it.

water can be recirculated from a reservoir without changing for a while. or it can drain to sewer and have fresh fluids each time. a timer can be used.

water globes vary in effectiveness. one, they are very small. two, they clog; when spearing soil the nozzle can have soil get up in there. but drips can come from any old gravity situation too; it doesn’t have to be a ‘globe’ or glass, just a container and a way for water to flow out.

about liners. it is hard plastic only u can trust. like rubbermaid container strength and not less. like, no tarps/flimsy plastic sheets; not even a few layers will work, they all tear due to soil debris or whatever.
