I REALLY need some help about herbs in a “women in balance” supplement, and pregnancy?
I had a baby almost 8 months ago, and ever since then my hormones have been really of out it, and earlier this month i bought some supplements from a place called “Herbal Healer”, called “Women in Balance”… Its all natural, and for all women of all ages.
Well, i started spotting about 13 dpo, and never started my period.Meanwhile, im still taking these supplements..Till last thursday, when i kinda suspected i *might* be pregnant.
Last friday, sunday and monday, i took 4 pregnancy tests and all came out dark positives.
Here is what’s in them..
Soy Isoflavones, Kava Kava, Wild Yam Extract, Licorice4:1 extract, Dong Quai powder, Red Raspberry powder, Black cohosh extract, chasteberry, ginger root powder, red clover and Ginkgo standardized extract.
Does anyone know if any of these would make a positive pregnancy test result? or am i really pregnant? i asked my naturopath dr, and she said they shouldnt, but stop taking them and test again next week… what do yall think? Thanks!
Lol, I think your pregnant again. Most of those supplements promote fertility but none that you listed contain the actual hcg hormone which is the only thing that can cause a positive test. You can test again, but I think congratulations are in order….
Here are some other great places to shop for herbs extract powder. They offer a low price and great customer service!

Cat Tail Pollen (Typha angustifolia; Bulrush; Pu Huang) 5:1 Extract Powder 100 gm: V $23.8 The root can be boiled and eaten like potatoes or macerated and then boiled to yield a sweet syrup. The roots can also be dried, ground into a powder and then used as a thickener in soups etc or added to cereal flours. Rich in protein, this powder is used to make biscuits etc. The seed is very small and fiddly to harvest, but it has a pleasant nutty taste when roasted. An edible oil is obtained from the seed. Due to the small size of the seed this is probably not a very worthwhile crop. Pollen – raw or cooked. A protein rich additive to flour used in making bread, porridge etc. It can also be eaten with the young flowers, which makes it considerably easier to utilize. The pollen can be harvested by placing the flowering stem over a wide but shallow container and then gently tapping the stem and brushing the pollen off with a fine brush. The pollen is diuretic, emmenagogue and haemostatic. The dried pollen is said to be anticoagulant, but when roasted with charcoal it becomes haemostatic. Mother-Of-Pearl (Margaritifera concha shell; Zhen Zhu Mu) 5:1 Extract Powder 100 gm: V $18 While pearl is not an herb, it is nevertheless a vital component of traditional Chinese medicine. A pearl is actually a precious gemstone, the result of a combination of minerals that forms around a grain of sand or other foreign matter in the shells of oysters and other mollusks. Although the bulk of a pearl is made of a substance called calcium carbonate, it also contains dozens of amino acids and minerals, including magnesium, zinc, iron, copper, selenium and silicon. In traditional Chinese medicine, pearl can be administered internally or externally. Internally, pearl is used as part of a tonic to calm the spirit and clear phlegm from the body; other uses include improving one’s eyesight and invigorating circulation. Pearl powder that has been hydrolyzed, or water-soluble, has been shown to lower blood pressure, increase endurance and relieve some of the symptoms of constipation. Externally, pearl is used as a powder to help heal blemishes and other skin problems, and to help the skin from becoming wrinkled and old-looking. The amount of pearl or pearl powder to be used depends on the condition being treated. Externally, it is used as part of a cream. Make sure that the pearl cream you use contains hydrolyzed, dissolvable pearl, which absorbs into the skin easily. If you are taking hydrolyzed pearl powder, 500 mg to one gram per day is the recommended dose. Pearl is most often available as a powder or cream. Pearl powder is available at some health food stores and specialty markets, while pearl creams can be found along with some cosmetics and other skin care products. There are no known drug interactions or adverse side-effects associated with pearl. Several studies have shown that hydrolyzed pearl powder is harmless, and can be taken by anyone without experiencing negative side-effects. As always, however, make sure to consult with a licensed health care provider before taking pearl, pearl powder, or any other dietary supplement or herbal remedy. Honeysuckle Vine (Lonicera japonica; Ren Dong Teng) 5:1 Extract Powder 100 gm: V $18 Used as an infusion, decoction, extract and external wash. Japanese honeysuckle is edible and medicinal. Honeysuckle is alterative, antibacterial, antiinflammatory, antispasmodic, diuretic, febrifuge, and is also used to reduce blood pressure. Experimentally, the flower extracts have been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels and are antibacterial, antiviral and tuberculostatic. Externally, the flowers are applied as a medicinal wash to skin inflammations, infectious rashes and sores. Leaves and flowers are traditionally used to treat chicken pox. This is Plum Flower brand’s nitrogen-flushed vacuum pack. Plum Flower is one of the most distinguished herb houses in the world. Sulfur Free, Chlorine Free, Aluminum Phosphate Free. Sulfites are used to give herbs the appearance of freshness. As with dried fruit, unsulfured herbs look different than those that are adulterated with preservatives. Herbs that are preservative free are more natural looking and are generally darker. The brightness of the herbs may be appealing, but it indicates the presence of harmful additives. Despite their appearance, unsulfured herbs are more fresh and safer than regular commercially available products. The use of sulfur, chlorine and aluminum phosphate was made unnecessary through the establishment of Plum Flower processing stations in China. Herb harvesters slice and process the herbs fresh, avoiding the need to rehydrate dried herbs later to process. This first step is crucial, as rehydration leads to decomposition and thus the need for preservatives. The herbs are then packed and the packages vacuum-packed, injected with nitrogen, and sealed. The nitrogen process combined with the lack of sulfur treatment inhibits the growth of anaerobic organisms, resulting in safer, higher quality herbs. After opening, store in a cool dry place. The facilities in Lanzhou and Guang Zhou, China, scientifically test each batch of herbs before, during and after the processing to make sure that all the active ingredients are present.
